We’ll chat about how to keep your lashes in their best shape so that you can avoid damage, and wear them again and again.
How does water affect your magnetic lashes?
Freshwater, salty water, pool water; it’s all the same when it comes to your magnetic eyelashes. We know you want to go frolicking in the ocean, play on your flamingo float, and wear your lashes while swimming like a mermaid out to sea. But, you have to be careful.
It’s not a good idea to wear your magnetic lashes at all in any kind of water if they are mink or any other kind of animal hair. Unless of course, you want to destroy them immediately. If you are wearing faux mink and/or synthetic fiber faux lashes, you will have to check with the brand to see if they will survive getting wet. Otherwise, you can follow these tips and tricks on how to take care of your magnetic lashes.
Magnetic lashes care tips for swimming
Tip #1: Each brand is different.
Some magnetic lashes brands use magnetic eyeliner to keep the lashes on. Moxielash has a brand of liner that is waterproof, however, the lashes are not. Ardellhas lashes that are faux fiber, but water makes the magnets not adhere to one another, so, also not great for swimming.
Tip #2: Remove magnetic lashes.
It’s just a good idea to remove your magnetic eyelashes before you go adventuring into any wet or watery situation. Most good magnetized lash brands are going to be an investment, and so you want to make sure you follow the rules to keep them looking glam for multiple uses.
Tip #3: Store your magnetic lashes.
You want to make sure that if you do end up going in the water, that you not only remove your lashes beforehand but that you put them away properly too. If your lashes came in a case, make sure that you put them back into their box prior to swimming. Most magnetic lash cases are created to keep your lashes looking in top shape so that you can reuse them.
Tip #4: Wear waterproof mascara.
If you wear magnetic lashes regularly, then you probably apply mascara before putting on your lashes (adding mascara to your magnetic lashes will destroy them). Instead of wearing normal mascara under your faux lashes, wear one that is waterproof. This way, you can remove your magnetic lashes, put them in their case, and still have some added length and volume to your natural lashes.
Tip #5: Dry and re-apply.
After you are done water skiing, going down a water slide, or whatever you do in the water, you can re-apply your magnetic lashes. Make sure that your eyes and natural lashes are completely dry before you put them on. If you apply magnetic lashes that need to be applied with a magnetic eyeliner, just line your lash-line, pop on your lashes, and get on with your life. If you are wearing the OG magnetic lashes, you have to sandwich your lashes between magnetic strips. Either way, make sure to completely dry your eyelids and lashes before you put them back on.
The biggest deal here is to always read the instructions that go with your magnetic lashes. You can typically get about 30 uses with most brands, so, make sure you use them all!
